Made the call and picked up a copy of Flash4 on ebay. Happiness. Hopefully I can put together the splash page this weekend, anyway, even though I'm such a Flash newbie.

When it comes to the main pages, how much movement should there be? How would you like the thin and wide pages/transitions handled? Just trying to garner some ideas.
It'd be sweet to make my own CD soundtrack to go with it, too. Man I've got a lot of work to do.

Good luck on the site! Let me just say that the inside pages I like better with the navigation at the top and a wide main text area - easier to concentrate on the text itself. (these were the "wide" layouts)

I'd think the splash page could have a good deal of movement on it (eventually give us an idea of where to click , but the pages with your text on it should probably be much more static so one can at, again, concentrate on the text itself.

And yes, I suggest hiring Alf Clausen (born in North Dakota!) for your soundtrack - get someone else to think up a theme song (Hans Zimmer... or, heck, even Moby, comes to mind) and have Alf work on variations on it.
Er... that is, if you happen to know the man
