php and mySQL installed easily. I set up the admin account but when i go to admin.php, none of the links go to the right directory.

Heres what i mean.... phpbb is installed in ...user/craig/sites/. I type my address into my browser, (http://24.71.192.139/~craig/phpbb/admin/index.php) but when i click on a link it will change the address in the browser and leave out the /~craig directory. Any one else get this to run on OS X?

Why don't you install it in the default location?

/Library/WebServer/Documents/

I don't run a phpBB on an OS X server, but I have one on a Red Hat Linux server ( http://www.asfar.org/discussion/ ). You have to set the directory that it's running (/~craig/phpbb/) in its config file, otherwise it will assume the default directory.
