Hey people,

Team MacNN, MacNN's distributed computing team, needs a new website. A few people have said they will make us a site, but we've never had anything come of it.
So now I'm wondering if someone will be willing to make us a new site.
I have a general idea of what it would be like, but can't code html.

So would someone be willing to do this for us? It is a volunteer thing.
If so, either post, or email me at sjaffa@mac.com.

I'd greatly appreciate it.

Scott

cool.
I'll bump up the thread that tells much of what we'd like.
If you want to work with others, that is fine too.

Be more than happy to lend a hand. How many folks are "signed up" for the job so far? What sort of ideas do you have on tng (the next generation) of team.macnn.com's website?

We seem to be mostly set.
We might need someone who is really good at making graphs and charts out of data from the web and from a database though.
Can either of you do that?

The charts, tables, and graphs would have to be built by script every 5 or so minutes. Their data would be pulled from files.
Can you do that?

Hmm... probably not. I don't know any scripting.

Scott: I could write the dynamic chart script if you want, -but- you'll need to have PHP and GD (Graphics manipulation and creation library) installed on the webserver. I would say Perl or PHP, but I've never actually used GD with Perl.

Check out JpGraph. It should do all of the graphing that you need. Really easy to use, and great documentation. I have used it several times, and it really works well...

Parallax.
I've got GD installed (the gif generating one).
I'll have PHP as soon as I find or find someone to make a PHP build that includes SOAP.
I've got perl right now.
If you are interested in helping, email me at sjaffa@mac.com.
Mostly we are going for live graphs, etc.

JPGraph sounds interesting.
