Currently I'm working in Dreamweaver 4, and viewing the source code in a not that complicated table I found the following:

<font face = "courier"> &lt;td colspan="-2"&gt; </font>

Is this legal in HTML ? Or is it a bug in Dreamweaver? I thought DW wasn't supposed to do these things

Looks like someone fat-fingered the code. The equal's sign is right next to the minus sign/dash. Besides, there's no reason to give a sign (+ or -) to colspan/rowspan.

But if you want to know definitvely if it's legal HTML then check out http://www.w3c.org for the skinny. I don't think it's legal.
