Well, I have finally embarked on a journey to create a 3rd redesign on MacVillage.net. Obviously titled MacVillage.net 3.0. The first phase is the news pages.
Goals or Redesign:
Keep load time low
Keep it compatible - MacVillage.net WILL work with OmniWeb, iCab, Opera, Netscape, not just IE, so I will be keeping the CSS and JavaScript to the point where all browsers will work. Also I am working on ensuring that the new design is VERY compatible with Mozilla and even IE6/windows (for those who want a mac site when on the dark side)
Clean Look
Easy to navigate - without clutter and lots of links, being able to get from one page to another without going through ten other pages.
Example Current Page Design:

First Concept Design
http://macvillage.net/about/mv3.shtml
Notice that with the First Concept there are lots of little bugs (spacers all appear white among many many other things) plus there is no footer on that page (as of this post)
Any comments or sugestions are welcome. It is only a concept and based on feedback I may go right back to the drawing board, so this is your chance to ensure that the new design is PERFECT.
As for ads:
NO POPUPS! I am doing everything possible to avoid using popups that is why there are as many ads as there are
there are 2 568x60 ads, one at the top and one at the bottom
there are 4 120x90 ads on the right side, the bottom one is for non profit use.
That's all I plan on, if anything I will go to text ads next. BUT NO POPUPS (lets face it, they drive to much traffic away to create revenue anyway)
So either post or email me with your ideas or comments on the current or concept design so that I can compile them for another stab at it.
