Whenever I used to lookup a domainname, you could see name and address of the registrar. Now I only get the name of the provider. Is this a change of policy, or can I get this info somewhere else?

There was a fairly big stink raised about privacy issues. Something about spammers harvesting massive lists of emails from domain registrations. To keep this from happening, (most, at least) registrars have added an extra step so that spiders don't have direct access. So yes, it's very available, and I don't think it should be hard to find. The info simply isn't as apparent as it used to be.
