I run a school website www.jpstevens.org, and we've been looking for a new host to host our website. We've been through two hosts, and we haven't been satisfied with what we recieved.
www.webhosting.com
- Horrible Tech support, malfunctioning ftp accounts, tons of downtime, e-mail problems, limited control panel.
www.globalhosting.com
- Bad Tech support, ftp accounts not versatile enough, horrible transfer speeds.

We need a new host, and I definitely don't wanna get ripped off like these last two hosts, so I wanna get some suggestions before switching again.

Here are things I definitely will need:

* Good Transfer speeds
* Multiple FTP Accounts (I mean we need accounts that can read and write to any directory, but separate from the master account)
* Under $20/month packages if possible (we are a school you know)

If anyone has some suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

I personally use Dreamhost (www.dreamhost.com) They offer fantastic tech support, several very flexible hosting plans, and a very convenient web panel where you can oversee all of your site operations. The most basic plan costs $9.95 per month. It features up to 60 megs of storage space, 3 email accounts, FTP access, etc. Just check out their site and see if they have what you need. I give them an enthusiastic endorsement. Let me know if you decide to go with them. They have a sweet referral program

With so many web hosts out there now, it's even harder to find a reliable hoster with a good rep.

Personally, I use www.your-site.com and have had nothing but a good experience with them. $5.00/mo. if paid a year upfront - 50MB space, Perl, CGI, PHP. Whenever there is downtime or an upgrade going on, they've sent me an email to let me know. When I've needed tech support, they've always been quick and helpful. In the past two years, I can count on one hand downtime that was less than an hour. They also have implemented now a load-balancing server farm.

Can I see your website? I'm being told I should check out some of the sites hosted on these servers before I make a choice.
