Hi,

I am having quite a bit of trouble setting up my site. I can't seem to
define the site map. Whenever I go to this option it says:

"the site map cannot be built because either:
A home page hasn't been specified
The specified home page does not exist
The homepage is outside of the root folder."

I have set up the folder structure as:

Projects --> AAA_Website (the site I am working on) --> Web (what I set as
the root folder)

inside of the "web" folder is an html doc called "home.html" and then there
are other folders inside of the "web" folder that contain other html pages
and images.

In the define site window I have set the home page to this file.

In the assets window it says: "no current site"

I have followed the tutorial in the book and I get the same results.

Help!!!

(Mac with DreamWeaver 4.01)

thanks,
chris

try renaming your home.html to index.html

also I can't see the reason for having the AAA_Website folder, try just having one folder called "projects" and then the subfolders in there such as "AAA_web" (root folder) and keep everything in there related to the AAA site.

Don't know if that made sense hopefully it did, good luck...

I suspect the root folder is to blame here. If you are planning to keep some stuff in AAA_Website (Fireworks and Flash files for e.g.) Dreamweaver will not like that. Make sure ALL assets are stored in the Root Folder. It does not matter what the home page is called although browsers will of course prefer "index.htm".

You could try rebuilding your desktop file next time you restart in case it's a system level problem.
