I'm trying to finish up my personal site, and I'd like to be able to compile stats, like where people came from, and that kind of stuff. I know there's a few free services out there, but the first hit counter I downloaded only showed up on PC's.
I'm building my site in GoLive, so something that's WYSIWYG would be preferable.
Thanks,

No joy.
I signed up, got the email they sent with the html code to paste, but it doesn't seem to work with GoLive.
There's not a counter showing on my page, and the Nedstat page doesn't show any hits after I accessed my page.
got any pointers? (maybe GoLive reformatted their code?)

Okay, I got the Nedstat code working by pasting it in BBedit. Go Live had definitely munched on the original code. (it "parsed" something when I moved between the HTML window and the WYSIWYG window)
This still presents a problem-- is GoLive going to screw up the hit counter every time I open my index.html file to update it from now on, or is there a preference somewhere in GoLive where I can tell it to leave hand-coded info alone?
It's gonna suck if I have to save out in GoLive, then open the file in BBedit and re-paste the hit counter code every time I want to update my site.
Help?
And, no, you can't see my site yet, it still sucks. (I'm just using a personal homepage to learn how to build 'em, and there's plenty of learning to do)

That is certainly strange about your problems between the Nedstat counter code and Adobe GoLive. I work in GoLive 5 as well, and have not experienced the same troubles with Nedstat.
It's been several months since I signed up, but I remember having to create counter identities in VirtualPC, because my Macintosh browsers failed to identify their submission forms. Once I created my identities and accessed my counter's codes (all in VirtualPC), I was able to paste the code fine in the Adobe GoLive "Source Code" window. I have updated my sites, too, without trouble.
Are you pasting the code into the "Layout Window", or are you tapping into the actual source code when you paste? (That is my only idea at why the code may be corrupted).

PS. When looking for a decent counter service, I searched the internet mercilessly. Nedstat was the ver best. The only other one that comes close is ExtremeTracking (www.extremetracking.com), which is not as pretty or thorough, but you may want to look into should Nedstat continue to be problematic.
Here one of the sites where I have used NedStat: http://www.rasteroids.com

I pasted it into the source code window-- it was when I swiched back to the "layout" window that the code got changed. I need to look through GoLive's prefs-- I think there's something in there that gives priority to GoLive code, or hand-written code. Just gotta find it.
The stats are pretty nice at Nedstat, except it thinks iCab is I.E.5.

Do you have any server-side capabilites on the site or are you limited to straight html and javascript?
If you cna do any type of cgi (asp, php, etc..) then you can increment the number of hits everytime someone requests your page. You can keep the information as an application-level variable (will go to zero if you restart your webserver) or keep it in a text file on your web server. Then you won't have to worry about whoever's code.
By the way. If you want to compile stats then just turn on web-logging and use a web statistic program (like webtrends but you'll probably want a free version) to do your stats. It's much easier than trying to put counters on pages.
