Ok, I have a flash movie playing in on frame and it loads content from a perl script into html in another frame, problem is that when it loads the HTML content into the second frame , it does this little "flash" window refresh thing, that makes my flash movie disappear.
edit: removed link, problem solved.

woah
strange problem, not seen that before. I guess it's fine on IE on a PC?
Can't get my head around how it works with the pl script (it's late ). When u click on the links on the fingers, is that a link targetting the bottom frame? And when you've clicked on one of the finger links, is the next sequence part of the same flash movie?
If so, the only workaround i could think of is splitting you movie into separate little movies and having a javascript refresh on the top frame
Or you could put some extra frames into the beginning of the scene that appears after u click a finger link to 'force' an update.

Yeah, when you click on one of the finger links, it plays a movie clip of the corrisponding product, (yes, all the same flash movie) and loads the bottom frame. Same thing applies to the links in the pop out menu on the left when there are no finger links. Actually it access the shopping cart cgi, which displays the corrisponding information (namely the add to cart and checkout buttons) in the bottom frame. I *really* don't want to have to split this up into separate movies but it looks like that may be the case. GODDDAMMMN YOOOOUUU MACROMEDIAAAAAAAA!
Thanks for the compliment and yes, I design for a living, this is personal work though.

I've spent all night tweaking and found a work-around. If i give a few frames lead-in to each products animation, and call the bottom frames content on mouse-release instead of the first frame of the animation, the little flash happens but the screen is refreshed when the content animates.
problem is.... it still happens if the user clicks 'add to cart'
aarrrrgggghhhhh
Nick
This actually works perfectly fine in every other browser on every other platform (excl. lynx and ns 2) just mac IE has this problem.
