Hi,

When you are completely disconnected from any network under os x your ip disappears under websharing. I am trying to test pages locally with php but because there is no ip I can not load them. Is there anyway around this??

Cheers!

under websharing in system preferences there is no ip visible unless I am connected to a network

try this:

System Preferences> Network> TCP/IP

New Location> Configure manually> IP Address> 127.0.0.1

you might need to chuck 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet box and 127.0.0.1 in the router box, i'm not sure, can't remember

Apply Now and see what happens. maybe log out/in or even reboot, just to be sure

if that doesn't work, then loiter until the right answer materialises

Have you got virtual hosting enabled with Apache? You may need to go into further detail to help nail this one. I've had intermittent problems with 'localhost' until I sorted Apache properly.

But out of curiosity how do I turn on virtual hosting??

Cheers!
