Please forgive my complete ignorance of this subject!

A friend of mine has started a Javascript course, he brought an iBook before starting but didn't think to check that the software they used on the course is Mac compatible. It isn't. He also says that it won't work under Virtual PC.

So what software do you use to learn, produce and test Javascript on a mac?

As I said I know nothing about the processes involved here, and my friend is only just starting the course so he isn't much help with regards to what he needs. The people on the course are offering little assistance so any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks

All you need to produce JavaScript is a text editor and a modern web browser. I'd recommend using BBEdit (excellent for all programming) and Internet Explorer or Mozilla.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured; but he seems to have some problem! I'm getting him to email me with specifics so I may have some more questions later!

Thanks for the quick reply!

i wouldn't recommend IE for debugging: not helpful enough.

You should check out Mozilla. It has some really great web development tools. Check it out here: <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.0/web-developers.html" target="_blank">Mozilla.org's web developer page</a>

Among other things, there is a Javascript Debugger, an error console (which provides much more insight into errors than IE's error dialog), and various DOM tools.

Hope this helps!
