I just got my new PM with Jag installed. I would like to check out the Dev Tools but cannot find them on the drive or on the included CDs.
Am I supposed to download the April beta still?
Thanks for your help.

As the boxed version of 10.2 hasn't shipped yet, I don't think the Jag dev tools are publicly available yet. Once they are, you can download them from connect.apple.com (you'll need an online Apple Developer Connection account, which is free). I don't think the Jag dev tools have been posted for online (i.e., non-paying) ADC members, but you could take a look.

The powermacs don't include the dev-tools. You have to download them later on. Probably this weekend they'll be online.

On recent new machines I've seen, the DevTools are in /Applications/Installers. Dunno if that applies to the new G4s, though.

As a warning... it dosn't look like the April beta works on 10.2 Power Macs. I just bought a new PM on Thursday, and it had 10.2 preinstalled.
I downloaded the April Beta from the ADC site, and Project Builder can't even compile it's own pre-built templates. It appears to be missing some header files (or links to those files). I'm trying to walk through the first tutorial - HelloWorld.
I guess I'll just uninstall this and wait for another update.

As always you should only use the developer tools corresponding to your OS version -- the 10.2 Developer Tools are termed "July 2002", and refer to 10.2 in the Read Me. The 10.1 Developer Tool say that they only support being installed on 10.1 in the Read Me, too, I think, if you'd care to read it.

They were in /Applications/Installers/Developer Tools on my new G4. Installed fine.

I was wondering if that was the case... I did read the readme, but from it, I was under the impression that you "could" actually use tools on a version that didn't match. It pretty much went along the lines of 'you must have at least version 10.1 installed'. Not that you couldn't be above 10.1.
Thanks for the "general rule" though... I'll keep it in mind.

Thanks for input guys.
However, I reinstalled my system the other day and never saw an option to install the Developer Tools.
I'm pretty sure I looked at every install option. They are not located in /Applications/Installers. There isn't even an /Installers folder under the /Applications folder.
I checked the ADC website and all thats available is a 9MB August update. The April download was > 200M.
Man, Apple really makes software installation a science unto itself.

Stop the presses!
I found the Dev Tools on the Software Restore CDs.
Hopefully Apple will come up with a more intuitive way to install/uninstall/reinstall software in the future.
thanks again!
