I thought I read somewhere a few months back that 10.2 is going to have a universal database that developers can use for apps? I guess UNIX has some sort of built-in database and Apple was going to leverage that ...
Can anyone provide me with some clarity on this subject? A quick search of this forum found nothing ...
THANKS

Was it a database or something more along the lines of a built in LDAP directory...
It could be some sort of embedded database with an LDAP interface... Though I would be surprised if there was something like a SQL interface to it.

I think what you're remembering is the built-in contacts database, aka Address Book, which is available to all apps.

I noticed something strange the other day when installing MySQL on a virgin Jaguar Install. There is already a user called MySQL.
Interesting.
<insert here some wild speculation about BeOS style meta-data and "some guy called Dom Something who apple hired">

I remember reading something like that, yes, but I came to the conclusion it was some clueless journo misinterpreting something Steve said
I don't get what's up with that ODBC app in Utilities, though?
