Hi
I read somewhere on a mac forum that installing the Dev Tools would give me a performance increase. Is that true?. I am running 10.2 on a Ti 667 DVI.
Thanks

Short answer: No.
Long Answer:
Installing the Dev tools on a virgin 10.0.0 system will give a performance increase, as it runs the following command:
sudo update_prebinding -root /
while the original 10.0.0 installer did NOT. This is what the "Optimizing System" thing is that runs at the end of the 10.2 install.

actually from what I've read on another forum, Jaguar dynamically handles prebinding. That is if an app is launched that has NOT been bound it will be the first time that it is launched, and subsequently only when changes are made to it causing it to need to be rebound.
There's also an article about this somewhere out on the web, but I don't have the URL handy.

I have seen that daemon running and figured it was doing something similar to that. That's pretty handy. It means that we no longer need to run that command by hand periodically to ensure everything is up to speed. Good move!
