I was just wondering if there were any Fortran developers here and what compiler, setup they use. I know I should learn another language but I don't have the time right now. I'm an engineer so Fortran works for my stuff. I just need a compiler thats cheap/free. BTW, I use Fortran 90.

I'm not a Fortran programmer (because I freakin' detest the language), but I was forced, against my will!, to write in Fortran while I was in grad school.

Most mac-heads that are doing real Fortran programming seem to be using Absoft, which I believe also comes with the IMSL.

It gets good reviews.

g77 is freely available. You can install it rather easily using fink.

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3

g77 doesn't support Fortran 90. And Absoft's stuff is great but the basic version costs $800. And thats academic pricing.

NAG is a bit cheaper. There will probably be no cheap/free alternative until gnu f95 is ready, which looks like a ways off. If it's any consolation, other *nix and M$ users aren't much better off as far as price is concerned.
