The notice in the news today shows iCal will work with any .mac accounts. Since I'm not willing to pay for the services and add-ins I was interested in the mention of 'any WebDAV server' as an option.
Is Apple allowing the WebDAV services be their base for the OSX-only software their coming up with? If so, can I set up my apache server with WebDAV and publish iCal event calendars and iPhoto albums?
This seems like an outstanding achievement to allow users who have the ability to configure their servers and use the technology. Then, allowing no-nonsense users to pay for the services and abilities of Apple's .mac service.
If that's the case, I don't mind the .mac service fees and will set up my own. Does anyone know if my curiosity is correct?
