I am running os x.1.4 and I have php4.2.? and mysql installed and running but with php4.2 or whatever the register_globals parameter is now off by default. I am just messing around with different portal systems and content management scripts and with this parameter set to off many of them will not even install. My question is how the hell do I turn the damn thing on? I am told (by the scripts, phpinfo etc) that I need to turn it on in my php.ini file and failing that talk to the system administrator, well considering it is my computer I guess that makes me the system admin and I know jack. I have search far and wide throughout my comupter and I cannot find this file. It says that it is in the usr/local/lib or something like that but it is not. the usr file folder is invisible but I can make it visible but even the path which I am told the file lies in (by php info) doesn't really exist. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this and turn it on?

Sorry it is so long winded but I don't want to leave anything out.
