http://swizcore.com/SS/
the yellow on the leftt edge is set in a cell of a table which is set to 100% vert but yet it does not do as I tell it to. Also, a table which is nested in it contains the white line touching the yellow actually drops bellow the yellow!! And it is inside the yellow table, how is this???
BTW, it displays quite differently in Chimera and IE, this hasn't happened with any other sites I've done. Please someone, some insight.

Unfortunately, height as a percent is not supported in table tags. Different browsers and platforms calculate this differently--or ignore it altogether--so it's impossible to achieve consistent rendering across the board. Tables aren't designed for page layout, so using them for this purpose can sometimes be frustrating.

I suspect the simplest solution in your case would be to use a background image to recreate the effect.

Incidently, I recommend everyone run their HTML through the W3C validator.

That way you can be sure you are right!
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.
