We are a couple of guys who try to have kind sort of "DVD Profiler" software on the mac.You can see our thread here.

The principle is quite simple. By entering you barcode or ISBN number, the software grab all the informations of the dvd from the net (a la "iTunes" for the cds) and put them into your local database. New DVDs not found on the server will be filled manually then export to the net for other users...

We are trying to make it a cocoa application (no FMP).

For now, we are two person who will to help in this project (a GUI designer and myself who try to talk with everyone

We need a developer who is interested and motived to do it.

I'm starting to talk with the guys of DVD Profiler about using their database because it's udge

You can answer to this forum, email me or iChat me (mchenry)

Any suggestions are welcomed also

I'd be happy to write a few snippets of code; for example the database back-end and the web page parsing. I've implemented both of those in the app I'm currently working on. I'd also be very happy to help with the GUI and general UE.

Perhaps there could be way to output the dvd collection in .xml or some format that could easily be imported into a sql db.

I was going to create something similar using php/mysql for integration into GeekLog.

As our DVD collection grows, it's becoming harder and harder to keep track of what we have and don't have (and want).

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output
