Hello

Under vi,vim,emacs the arrow keys are out of service -> System Bell executes. This happens only when a file is loaded.

If the editors are runned and no file is opened keys work properly (example to create new txt files)

Does anyone know how to fix the problem or explain how to edit files after loading them with those editors?

With pico they aloud input with properly output with loaded files and when creating completely new files.

Regards

Darkmatter,

VI,VIM are much DIFFERENT from PICO.

You can navigate a file by using key:
'j; -> down
'k' -> up
'h' -> left
'l' -> right

Here is a pdf that is a quick reference.

http://dcfonline.sfu.ca/ying/linux/vi/vi-reference.pdf

This will also apply to vim for the basic usage. I am not an EMACs expert so you should get info from someone who is.

VI takes some getting used to. But it will soon be second nature and you may find yourself using those commands in MS Word. That will get you nowhere!

Enjoy

Hello Socalmac,

Thank you for answering. The problem was fixed unselecting the "Strict VT100 keypad behavior" of the Terminal Window Settings Emulation.

Thank you very much
Kind Regards
Darkmatter
