I just ordered a new a new ibook from Apple. And the Apple Dev site says if you have 10.2.x on CD chances are you have the dev tools. Well I am sure they arent on my laptop, where on the CD are they, can't find them there either. The CDs i have are the 10.2.x restore CD's and the 10 and 9 utilities CDs. I tried to d/l the tools from Apple but I am getting 5k to 6k a second on their site and I am comming off a under utilized DS3 circuit.

Thanks!

There should be an Installers folder in your Applications folder that has a disk image with the Developer Tools on them.

Thanks! Yup it is there. Ok now. I have installed it. But I still can't find the kernel mod tools on my HD. I did a find / -name kmod and nothing. I am trying to install a cisco vpn client and apparently I need to add some modules to the kernel.

FYI, if you buy Jaguar by itself, there is a Dev Tools CD in the box.

Uhm... If you are told you need to "add some modules to the kernel" then you probably have some linux drivers. If you have OS X drivers, just run the installer and reboot, it should auto-load them. If you want to load them manually, use the kextload utility.

You don't have to add any modules to the kernel for the Cisco VPN client. The installer will take care of it. Just run the install script and reboot.

Just to add - if you re-install OSX 10.2 with the disks that came with your G4 or whatever, Developer tools aren't re-installed. (At least I didn't see them) I suspect that the disk that does a complete install of everything (not the Jaguar disk) does this - but I was worried it might overwrite my files and didn't use it.

You can however download the developer tools from the Apple website. For some reason it took me three tries to get it, but once I had it, it installed without a hitch.
