xml-rpc-c and os x ... no chance to compile ?

I have troubles compiling xml-rpc-c on os x. I compiled successfully libwww and expat but when I started the configure script of xml-rpc-c it said there's no wchar.h.
I looked at the sourcecode and they use wchars everywhere, any ideas how to compile it ? Is there any possibility to get wchar.h and wchar.c ?

Now I downloaded the newest release 0.9.10 ... got it configured, but can't compile it, errors in dirent.h, can't compile clienttest (undefined symbol)
No ideas ?
