hi !

i'm localizing my app in english and french.
Every time i need to modify the Graphical User Interface, i just add my changes to BOTH nib... quite long, but it's ok.

Now it's worth : some nice guys offered me to translate my app to Japanese, German, spanish...

but the problem is that they work on not-up-to-date nib, as i'm adding some items/outlet to the nib

i think those guys spent nearly 1 hour to translate nibs...
I am extremly annoyed to ask them to translate ALL the nib again due to only minor changes...

is there a way to report differences *only* from my english nib to all other nibs without making localizations again (which kills all the work they have done)

in fact i'm looking for a sort of "nibMerge"...

do i need to only finish my nib in english then only when i have totally finished my User Interface, make localized versions (and send them to my translaters ) ?
it's not very well desinged

IIRC it was the same mess with Ilog

any idea to simplify translatiion process ?

If you're changing programmatic stuff about a nib that doesn't affect the localized text (class definitions, outlet connections, etc), you might find it more expedient to recreate those changes in the localized nib than to ask your localizers to re-translate a new English nib.

But probably the best solution is to use Apple's command-line utility nibtool. This tool can manipulate nib files in several ways, including extracting or changing localized strings. Type man nibtool in Terminal for details. If that's not helpful, see this message from Omni's localization project, which shows an example of using nibtool and offers additional utilities for working with nibtool-produced strings files.
