My homepage at : http://24.48.181.177:120/index.html is on my own little server, and I was just wondering what do you think of it? I couldn't really find the best font, any ideas of what to use instead of Arial Black? Is this a horribly ugly site, or nicely done?

"With Resolution 1280x1024 or higher"... ouch. you might wanna rethink that, as most people use 1024x768. my iBook has a max res of 800x600 too, so it's scroll-tastic on there

as for the font, try verdana. it's always been classier than arial

as I'm sitting there waiting for the page to load, I'm thinking "hmm, this doesn't look so ba---" then POW! that ripped off brushed metal window popped in and ruined everything. Ripping off Apple's intellectual property and using it on your own site without permission is against the law, and shows unoriginality. plus the silver brushed metal looks way off on top of that nice rich red.

sermon done.

It's not bad. But:

1) Why a brushed metal window? It's just a personal opinion, but I don't inderstand why people make websites that look like computer windows. I think I've see it done well maybe twice, and the rest of the time it just doesn't make sense.

2) It could be a lot more cohesive. The three main sections of the page (links, baner, and content) are all sitting in the same page, but not really related to each other. White links on red, and blue text content on a grey background?

3) I' say get rid of the border on the table.

Just my opinions tho.
We need less Democrats and Republicans, and more people that think for themselves.

Sorry is you don't like the brushed metal, it's just that the only image editor program I own is Grahpic Converter..... So I couldn't make any nice border, just copy something. Thanx for the suggestion of the Verdana font, that looks a lot nicer. Also I think navy blue on silver it a perfect combo, very easy to read the text. I know HTML very well, and can do almost anything....but I am not very creative in my designs..... Oh, and the reason for the large resolution was just the fact that I made it on my Apple Cinema Display, with the resolution "1600x1024" the web page fitted perfectly there. But I'll reduce for 1024x768.

Just use tables set at 800x600 so that it can expand with higher resolutions. I used to work at a government agency this summer and all their computers still had 800x600 on their computers....56 computers in one building. Like someone mentioned earlier, some people have their iBooks set at that resolution. Just a few hints there.

...and that means just because you use IE to browse the web it's OK to use IE-specific functions that don't work in any other browser?

There's too many designers/sites out there who are blinkered into thinking that what they see is what everyone else sees. It's not the case at all.
