I've used CVS for maintaining some basic admin packages I've created on Solaris, just using the CLI. I'd like to start using it for my PB projects on Mac OS X. However, the documentation that I've been able to find is not particularly great, and from what I've seen, it looks a lot more complicated than it ought be.

Is anyone using CVS with PB? What are your experiences? What are the drawbacks to it with PB?

Anyone care to offer as set of step by step instructions for setting it up and using it with PB, including establishing an initial repository?

Check out SSHPassKey. Also, here is an old and somewhat out-of-date example of setting it up (from before SSHPassKey was available).

Hope this helps!

Well, it's a bit of help, but I'm not interested in connecting to remote servers, I want to set up a repository on my own machine (the same machine on which I usually use Project Builder).

Being that CVS is an open system, and there are many variants of the client, including full GUI clients for Windows and Java, I was hoping that there'd be some simple way to interact with CVS and Project Builder, including setting up a repository and establishing a new project.

As it is, I use CVS so rarely, that I've got to read the documentation every time I do anything with it to remind myself. I would have thought that Apple could have included a nice GUI interface to it as part of Project Builder, or independantly but compatible with Project Builder. But it doesn't look like that is the case at all.

You can try CVL which you can download here...

I use PB with cvs every day for things like updating, committing changes, adding files and deleting files, but there are some things you can only do with the shell cvs commands. You initially need to set up your module and the repository using the shell commands.
