Does anyone know if mac os x caches internet files system wide? This is what is happening...

I create file in Golive
I ftp that file to my web server (bcentral host)
the file is ok
I then make changes to the file in Golive.
Upload the modifications.
The modifications do not show up in my browser.

I have deleted all known browser caches.
I have even viewed the pages in Virtual PC with windows browser
same deal.

the files that golive creates seem to be ok-when viewed locally from my hard drive they appear correctly in my browser.

Also, to confirm that the files are actually making it to the server- I downloaded the entire directory with Fetch. Those files also appear correctly in the browser.

I have also switched from my DSL to dial up to make sure that there wasn't a problem with my internet provider.

I'm lost-any suggestions?

Thanks
Mark

Web servers will sometimes be configured to cache pages. Since you have been diligent in clearing your local caches, it's possible that bCentral is responsible for the caching.

Since I generally publish on servers that I admin myself, I can't say that I've had to overcome this myself. Perhaps adding expiration meta headers to your page would encourage the server to reload the updated version.

There was an article I read about this recently, but I can't remember where. I know this doesn't help, but it at least means that help is out there. I will definitely post the URL if I can find it.

There are <meta> tags that servers use in deciding how long to cache something. Maybe someone else can fill us in...
