Hey folks. I posted video on my web site as a file to download. So it cant be played until it has fully downloaded. But I was wondering if there is a easy way to make the files start playing before they are fully done, streaming right?

I'd also like to do that with my audio files. If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, go Right Here!

I have Dreamweaver for OSX if that helps.

thanks

Head over to Amazon and spend a small amount of cash on an invaluable book called 'Quicktime for the Web' by Morgan Kaufmann publishers. It's written by the guys and gals in the know (i.e. inside Apple). I'm no Apple employee, and there's no payola - it's a bloody good read!

In the shorter term, though, head over to the Apple site: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/authoring/embed.html for a quick tutorial on how to get started.

We just used this QuickTime stuff on a band site as well - check it out at http://www.crashpalace.net

Cheers

With QuickTime Pro ($30), you can make a movie that can be viewed as it loads in the browser or QT Player . . using ordinary HTTP protocols. This isn't true streaming, but a unique feature of QuickTime called Fast Start (aka progressive download or progressive streaming). It has tons of advantages over true streaming. Want to know more?

If you're serving off of OSX (server or regular strength) you can use Darwin Streaming Server (http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/streaming/) .

This is "true streaming."

DSS is great fun.
