Hey guys.

I've been working on this for over a year, all by my self. This is my first venture into Cocoa programming. I really taxed the board for info on nibs and window controllers, and I finally have a little bit to show for it.

Even though it only takes about five minutes to see everything the program does, this is an entire year's worth of work.

So you don't get TOO disappointed: there is no 3d rendering to be done yet. However, the program will triangulate the location of unknown points.

http://homepage.mac.com/whschultz/Modeler/

to find the camera location: the first four reference points defined must include: origin, point on x axis, y axis, and z axis. A camera must be instantiated and tied to the image.

to triangulate a point: the point must be defined with no location in two photographs that are tied to a camera that has been located.

This program is far from complete, and it does very little of value right now. Thus, the program is in a public alpha stage. I'm trying to get recognized as a serious developer, even though I don't have many projects under my belt.

All 3d algorithms currently *used* are 100% original, without even inspiration from another person, product, or idea.

Do any of you even know what an Image Based Modeler is? I'm surprised no one has said anything.

RealViz just announced a similar product for OS X... sells for $750. I have higher hopes for my project than theirs currently does.

Sound interesting yet?

It makes photoshop looks like child's play.

I'm aware of what they are. I tried to reply yesterday, but it seems macnn's weak database ate it .

Anyways, looks like a nifty project.

I know some people at my uni who did a project on this, so I know how impressive this could potentially be. Good luck! If possible, though, making the interface more intuitive and automated would be a good thing.

I've considered changing the "reference point number" field to a pop-up menu showing all points that have been created, so that the user doesn't have to enter the point number. In this instance, though, I don't know how to make it any more "intuitive." I could make it automated, but that would only be useful in a shipping product, where I can ship an object with the product. It wouldn't do any good in the current development stage.

Any tips on minor user-interface tweaks that would make a big difference?
