similar to the 10.1 thread earlier, but Apache simply refuses to boot.

The console (and terminal if you manualy do it) both simply say

"/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started"

I want to know why!
When I did as per suggested before and run a config, it says "Syntax OK" but when I try to start it up it refuses.

There are no errors that I have found, except it "could not be started." I have tried overwriting the httpd directory with the apache security update package, but it did not effect anything.

Is there a way to completely reinstall Apache? Or at least fix this problem.

What modifications have you made to the .conf file (if any)?

Sorry to ask a silly question, but did you do a 'sudo apachectl' - if you try it without executing it as root, you'll get an error.
Computer thez nohhh...

I did Sudo the command, and it did run, just no helpful results were yielded.

I had modified the conf file to change the port of the webserver, but that was it, and it did work successfully for about 4 months.... and now it no longer does. I actually reset the conf file, and still no luck.

try running:

tail /var/log/httpd/error_log

that log hold lots of useful info.

Possibly off topic, I recently cound't start apache cause i set it up to write such logs to a different folder then by acident deleted it!

All is better now but i was stumped for a while ..

good luck .. post more questions if needed.
