I saw yesterday that Metrowerks has released CodeWarrior 8. It seems to be more targeted at Cocoa and Objective C programmers than has been in the past. They claim to have code-completion, but I can't get from the documents on exactly what level this will work at. They also claim to allow you to use it in conjunction with Interface Builder if you wish to do so. Does this mean that you can write a Cocoa App using some kind of GUI-builder of their own? I've never used CodeWarrior but since they're offering it at only $99 (instead of $399 till the end of February 2003) I'm thinking about it. If the code-completion works for all of the Cocoa framework objects I'd be willing to pay for it in a heartbeat. Does anyone in here have any experience with CodeWarrior? Does it come close to offering the same types of features as MS's Visual Studio? I really need a better IDE than Project Builder and am willing to pay for it. Time is money!

OK... Either noone in this forum has ever used Metrowerks CodeWarrior 8 with Cocoa, or everyone hates it and thinks Project Builder is the the best thing since sliced bread!

I'm just trying to find out a little more from someone who's actually used the product and NOT what some salesperson would have you believe.

Thanks and have a great weekend all!

I haven't used CodeWarrior 8 enough to answer your other questions, but I can confirm that it doesn't include a substitute for Interface Builder. What's new in CW8 (in that area) is that it knows how to work with IB and nibs, where previously you didn't have the option of using IB with CW at all (which, in addition to other things, made using CW for Cocoa development next to impossible).

According to that link you sent, the code completion is only for C/C++...

Yeah, that's what I read. It is now suppose to work with Interface Builder and they claim to have code completion for Objective C. I'd like to know if this means that it will recognize objects and methods in the Cocoa Framework and/or your own defined program classes.

I'm used to working in Visual Studio, and find Project Builder somewhat lacking. Was wondering if CodeWarrior 8 would give me more productivity when it came to coding...

You might try googling. I think there is a USENET group for MW. Go to Google but click on the Groups tab.

I'd like to know as well. PB has a lot of nice stuff for us Visual Studio users, but code completion is the one big thing for me that's mising.
