Hi all,
I'm fairly new with Macintosh, just bought my first TiBook a few months ago and a happy user, would never swicht back to windows.
I'm a student, studying Information Technology and have to finish my study this year.
Therefore I need to do a project which involves developing software or webdevelopment.
I was thinking about this and why not create some software for mac os x? This would enlargen my knowledge since I don't have any experience developing on a mac platform...
I have knowledge about java, j2ee, javascript, c++, perl, php, xhtml, xml, xslt, .NET, webservices etc..etc..
So basically what I'm asking is if you guys can think of something to create for the macintosh platform. Some software package that would be quite revolutionairy and needed.

I'm Appleless and unhappy: tiBook is dead and iPod stolen

Good luck in getting a forum of software developers to give you their revolutionary, essential ideas. If I had a revolutionary idea, I'd be well on my to becoming the next monopoly, not sharing it with you.

Step back a bit and forget implementation details at the moment. You're getting the proverbial cart before the horse. You need to be concentrating on finding and solving a problem at the moment.
What problem domains outside of software engineering and computer science are you well versed in? Dabble in EE, math, physics, chemistry, snowboarding, drag racing, contract killing, etc. on the side? Look to those for inspiration. It's important that you be well versed in your problem domain if you are the sole developer of your product.
When it comes time to do an implementation, I would think twice about developing in Cocoa or Carbon. Why risk your final project by wasting cycles learning a new technology that could have went towards a better understanding and modeling of your problem, unless that technology offers substantial benefits over technologies you are already familiar with. Carbon in no way offers that. Cocoa is no better than Java or .NET. Cocoa/ObjC is essentially a bad knockoff of Smalltalk-80 that is compiled and doesn't rely on the Smalltalk environment. Depending on how you look at it, this is a weakness or a feature.
Good luck with your project. I wish I had a revolutionary idea or two lying about that I could have given to you.

Hello?? McFly? Anyone home?
I agree with the above post: we ain't talking. Those of us who have revolutionary ideas are already hard at work on them. For example: I've been working on mine for a year and a half now. Even in this time, no one else is even remotely close to what I hope to achieve... we'll see what happens in another year or two.
