I have a friend host my website for me(but he is in another state ;-). Well, I have been doing a lot of PHP stuff, but to really get into it u kinda need a MySQL database. Is there anyway I can manage it remotely where my friend(server admin) will let me for security reasons?!
I hope you get what I mean!
Thanks for your time...

Have him install PhpMyAdmin and then give you full access to your databases.

I second that. Make sure you use a .htaccess or something else to secure the phpMyAdmin directory. You don't want everyone with that same access.

But by doing that, is that a security risk for him? I mean I no not have "too" much power?

Its not a glaring security risk. And should be fairly easy to implement.
The alternative for you is to have them give you shell access on the server and you can SSH into the server and access the mysql shell client from the shell access. This manner takes a little more knowledge on your part, but it just as 'accessible' from a remote location.

The security is not much problem if you also password protect the /PHPMyAdmin/ directory. That way, you have a login and password to the database as well as a login and password to the Admin code.
I've been using that configuration on a number of sites for a couple of big clients, and so far so good.
