I've made several icons for websites now, but wonder how to set the background color to transparant. If I create a white background, this turns up white (of course), but in Netscape or Opera tabs, the white background should be grey, or the color of the window. Does anybody know how to do this? I use graphicconverter for the mac, and irfanview for windows.
NB: to be clear, I'm referring to the favicon.ico image!

use Iconographer for mac. And copy/paste image with transparent area from FW/PS/... to there. Then delete masks and save as WinXP .ico.
Not 100% sure for this, but try iconographer, it should work.
