I am having a serious problem with DW MX that has completely stopped me. I sent a message to the Macromedia Forum but have received no answer. This has become very serious and rendered DW completely useless to me until I can resolve the issue.
What happens is that after adding a few server behaviors to a page, I suddenly start getting an error message as follow:
At Line 4434 of file ?Macintosh HD:Applications:Macromedia Dreamweaver MX:Configuration:Shared:Common:Scirpts:dwscriptsEx tData.js?:
Out of memory.
After that, I'm finished. There is nothing I can do. I hope there is someone who can help me figure out what's going on. I'm using PHP/mySQL and running DW 6.1 on a Mac with OS X. I tried running it under OS 9.2.2 but that made no difference.

INTERESTING!!
I've gotten 'out of memory' errors, too. I thought it was just a damaged app from a few hard crashes and a clean install might fix it.
I've been able to quit in time (in OS9) and reopen DW without too much trouble. But if I don't save and quit right away I get a hard crash.
I think their app has a minor memory leak that you much be pushing its buttons! I've not seen this behavior under OSX though.
Sorry for no fix, but at least you know you're not the only one.

Thanks Raman. That much I could figure out for myself.

There are minor drawbacks to using Dreamweaver, one of which is its cost. Another is its attempt at tying into ALL the other Macromedia products.I understand it from a business perspective, but not EVERY site needs flash or coldfusion or Fireworks to make a great site.
I am almost exclusively working in the code view for all but 'prototyping'. I edit my code by hand, but like the environment that Dreamweaver brings to the table.
I like the ability to have uploading of related documents, and 'cloaking' of folders that don't get uploaded. The PHP integration is nice with syntax coloring. There's a lot to be useful for a programmer in Dreamweaver and YES you can do programming with a straight text editor.
I don't use Dreamweaver as a 'visual editor' even though it can be used like one. Its most definitely NOT like the FrontPage's of the world. It conveniently ties in technologies without seriously hampering development. By this I mean they include javascript support, PHP editing (open), JSP servlet (sun/open) objects, ASP (microsoft) if you want it and coldfusion (macromedia).
Its global search/replace when used with its templating features are outstanding for getting a site up and running that's flexible and useable. Programmers can take the greatest advantage of its features.
Anyone who has something they prefer, please chime in with the strengths and weaknesses of other products. I'd be happy to learn about some new tools.
