Does anyone have an opinion on getting trained at a corporate training facility in the typical 5 day session as opposed to a class spread over several weeks/months?

I'm looking at a J2EE "boot-camp" that consists of 8 1-week sessions (covering WebSphere, XML, UML and other related topics). But a friend of mine said these 1-week sessions should be avoided because so much is thrown at you at once and that any 1-week class is designed to provide a thorough introduction to people who will be using what they learned immediately in a work environment.

Anyone have a similar opinion?
