ok.. this is a weird request, i don't know if it's even possible to do, but i thought i'd ask and see.

i had some free webspace awhile ago that i used to upload some mp3s, images etc, but to stop people snooping in the directory i also uploaded a blank index.html page.

i've since lost my user name and password info for the FTP, so i was wondering, is there a tool available that lets you browse the contents of a directory, without having direct FTP access to it? i'd like to see what i did actually upload there so i can make use of the files again..

Well, i think you may be out of luck. You best bets are:

Simply try anonymous FTP access to the server (it doesn't require a password).

Command line tools: curl or wget, or telnetting to your web server's port 80.

You might also give Interachie (formerly Anarchie) a try.

The best bet would be to contact the provider, and ask for the password to be reset and sent to your email address.
