it depends on which version of aol you're targeting...i believe they've only supported html emails since version 6 or 7 and up. previous versions simply extract the text from the html and stick it up top, then they show the source below...rather ugly but your users still get your information.
we currently do two options at work. if you know your user is using aol (which, by parsing out the server in their email, you'll know...), send them a text only version and send everyone else the html version.
or if you're really bent on sending the html version to everyone, we stick an html comment at the very top with all of our text formatted nicely for text only reading. We then put about 10 pages worth of line breaks so that they never really get to see the source below.
it's annoying and cludgy...
