Those I've seen are hugely expensive. You might be able to use an application which does UML (Unified Modeling Language) for database design.
folding@home is good for you.

There is a product distributed with WebObjects called EOModeller. I doubt it is a full-featured data modeller, but it works well for webobjects data design and work. I do not think it's compatible with UML. It outputs plist data. But I have written shell scripts that conver to/from this plist data, so it may be possible to get UML out.

But like I say, I don't have that much experience with other data modellers.

Depending on your goal, you could use an EJB design tool. It will generate the database schema and EJB CMP description XML based on your data requirements.

I would say that automated tools are rarely the most efficient answer to these problems. It's better to understand how databases and queries work and design the schema and indexes by hand to maximize performance.
