whats up? anyone workin with movable type? i have been trying to figure out a new centent mangagement system for some sites and purchased pmachine pro and movabletype.

at first i thought pmachine was gonna be what i was looking for (still haven't counted it out) because it seems a lot more mac based sites are running it. spymac.com for one is most impressive.

but i wanted to make sure i wasn't settling for a lesser app. so i installed movable type. i am so diggin the community of developers and plug-ins for it! it seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of in terms of flexability.

i love the pinging other blogs ability the most. super hot.

anyone have any experience with either system and any pro's or con's for either?

Well its hardly a cms but i use Fusion News , which i find handy and fairly customisable in terms of the template, and the best thing is its free, Hotscripts is the best place to go for cms scripts

wow. i am surprised there is apparently no interest in this topic. or maybe its just the lack of traffic in the web dev forum i guess.

I've really liked the "Postnuke" community and apps that are web-based for this type of publishing.

Its not precisely a blog engine, but could be used as such. There are many advanced modules that related to a community site. It may be your subject heading was misleading because of the ambiguous subject.

At least I hadn't heard of the 'movable type' setup.

Other options for content management are phpnuke which also has a large developer community. Actually a search at freshmeat follows:

http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=CMS&section=projects

And blog specific:

http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=blog&...ction=projects

See if any of these may suit your needs. Most of the freshmeat site contains code that is open-source, free, or under a loose licensing scheme. Its a great site for finding new/great software for linux/other systems.
