Hi,
I used to do a lot of web designing in the late 90s and alongside HTML, I made heavy use of JavaScript and CSS.
Since I haven't been doing any web design in the past few years, and now want to design/launch my own website, I was wondering whether things have changed - ie. is the combination of what I use still the most popular thing out there? Is there something else that I need to research/learn to have "up-to-date" web designing skills?

Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I would strongly recommend picking up two books:

Dynamic HTML: The Definitive Reference (2nd Edition)
JavaScript & DHTML Cookbook

Both are by Danny Goodman and published by O'Reilly. The first is an excellent reference for DHTML. The second is a collection of code snippets for real world scenarios (drop down menus, etc).

If you do data driven sites, you probably want to look into XML and XSL. XSL is fantastic.
