Hi all.

I'm planning on making a database driven website using PHP and MySQL. I've found tons of web hosting services that offer this combination. Does anyone know of one that has an option to have the data in the database backed up? Many of them will back up files, but not the data in the db. The way I see it, my web files are easy to replace since I have them on my dev machine and in a few other places. It's the data that the web site collects that is the most valuable.

So, I'm looking for a reliable, offordable (but still a fast, good connection) web hosting service that will let me have PHP & MySQL web site, and perform weekly backups of the database data (if not daily).

Thanks in advance for any information.

I've been using Dreamhost for several years now. They keep daily backups of each of your MySQL databases for up to a month. The length they keep them for depends on the leftover space on their backup server but they do have at least a week of backups at all times. I think Dreamhost is great. If you decide to go with them, let me know. Every little referral helps Let me know if you have any more questions...
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

go check out www.powweb.com . 7.77 a month, 500mb storage and 30 gigs transfer. plus an awesome control panel to manage ftp accounts, mysql, email, etc. and they have a forum with great people that help with any and everything. i think the address for the forum is http://forum.powweb.com .

i am so happy with them. no complaints at all.

if you go with powweb after looking into them and you like them, put www.longrap.com as your referrer. they give you 15 bucks credit with every referral. i would appreciate. you will like them and the forum community

A local company to Minneapolis, MN is www.real-time.com

They have a reputation for security of their servers and uptime. We use them for hosting and have a 'development' site that is a mirror with different data sets.

They may not be the bargain host, but they know their stuff and have many satisfied customers.
