Anyone know of a free web site provider that doesn't put so many pop-up or embedded ads on your site? I currently have my site hosted on Tripod, but many visitors as well as friends (especially on the PC side) complain about the constant pop-ups. If you use Safari, Camino, or Omniweb (or even MSIE with AdGate), you would never even notice there were pop-ups.

I miss iTools (not intended to be another .Mac flame)

freewebs.com -- no popups, the only thing they want is a small 1 line bar saying they are hosting it on the page somewhere

other wise...
http://www.absolutely-free-hosting.c...forced-ads.php
has a large list of various free hosts

Nope. If you want a free web host, you have to put up with poor service and lots of banners/ads. It comes with the territory. iTools was an aberration.

The other thing about free web hosts is that they almost always go out of business at some point, taking your site with them. When they don't, they start charging at some point (like iTools).

If you want a decent site without ads, just pay for web hosting - it's not really that expensive. Or, if you liked iTools, you could get .mac, although it's a bit more expensive than some.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Well I did manage to find a free web provider over at Deluxnetwork. It sucks that there's a 300K file limit (had to compress and shed the sound quality of the Flash intro). I also had to hotlink a few files from my other mirrors (PDF's) since they too were over the limit.

But hey, NO ADS! And for some odd reason I think most of the guys over there are l337 h4X0rs.
