ftp link trouble

i want to post a link to an ftp server, but the problem is the username has an @ symbol in it. so, when i put ftp://user@user@domain it assumes the domain is user@domain. any way around this?

thanks, but the ftp isn't on my computer, its on a virtual server and my access is limited to using cpanel6, so i can't set it as a proxy (as far as i know). any other suggestions?

thanks, but that doesn't work either. i'm thinking there is some javascript solution to the problem, but i have no idea how to go about it.
