Hi everyone,

I am relativly new to perl programming, and would like to be able to starting accessing a mySQL db from my code. The problem is I can't install the DBI module, I've upgraded my version of perl to 5.8.0 but when I follow the instructions for installing the mod, the 'make' command always fails with an error of command not found....

Any help would be great,

Thanks

isn't DBI part of the main perl distribution? you should try a quick test before going crazy trying to install the mod, though learning how to do so is helpful...i'm trying to do so as well. i believe that cpan has an easy interface to install mods with, though i haven't looked into anything yet.

You have the Developer Tools installed, right?
Otherwise you won't have 'make' itself.

Make sure you have the dev tools installed.

I'd also recommend using cpan to install modules in general...
