I'm working on my new personal website. I have the design basically fleshed out, but I am having trouble deciding what to do about browser support. It was my goal to go 100% standards; it looks perfect in Safari, Chimera, and Mozilla, but like crap in IE (any). I know that I can fix the png issues with a javascript.

You can see it here.

If you have a spare moment and could check it out and let me know what you think, that'd be great.

Once I decide if the design will work, I'll go through and add the content.

Thanks a lot.

Looks really cool. While it was loading (no background pic) I couldn't read the menu items, but other than that it looks really cool. I think you need a background that will cover the area that the picture doesn't, because my screen is only 1158x864 and I can see past the edge. Several ways to elegantly handle this, I guess. Just *don't* resize the client's window (I hate that).

One thing I think would be nice is a more obvious indication of what page the user is currently browsing. The thin black line isn't noticeable at first. Also maybe make it so you can't click the page you're already on? Just a suggestion.

This might just be because it's only a design, but the tiny thumbnails of your photography can't be viewed in full size.

Overall, very nice looking page.

Thanks for the feedback. It really helps to bounce ideas off of others. I've fixed the things you mentioned, but I still have to resize-the background and position it correctly.

You are correct, none of the photos did anything before.

Now to add that script to enable pngs in Win IE....

The 'toc' section should be higher IMHO. It should be visible when the page loads. Also, with the background picture, you cannot read the other toc items, so if one didn't know there were other items in the table of contents, they wouldn't hover over the links. Maybe making them gray or a color that contrasts with the background?

Good work.

I mentioned this in my other thread. I found a script that was much much simpler and more efficient than every other solution I have come across.

I used it on a transparent-intensive site and it worked great! No need to add a tag to every single PNG graphic! Just a fine lines in the head and a javascipt in the head or external (i made mine external)

Thanks for all of the feedback guys.

I pretty much finished it up, with the exception of the background pic. Right now it cycles colors until I have time, and then it'll cycle pics.

Final version here.

Thanks again.

york...

very nice, I really like the way it works and looks static on each page. I just recently finished updating my site, and yours almost (almost ) gave me the motivation to go in and hack it up all over again, try some new stuff. Very nice, I especially like the digital photos collection.
