My friend got a hold of the new dev tools and has told me there is a new class for a search field - NSSearchField. It has a built in recents menu and can be normal size, small or mini. There is also, in NSTableViews built in (if you want) column colouring (ala iTunes). There is also a new Safari palette and just tons of stuff.

That sounds pretty sweet. Any others? And is NSToolbar a palette item yet?
Have the Cocoa frameworks themselves had any obvious beefing up? Can't wait to try the new web framework...

I'm surprised that IB wasn't itself updated at WWDC... maybe it's next? I always figured that sooner or later the two, IB and PB, would just be combined. I think text files are an ancient concept anyway; I celebrate the day when everything is done in an IB type setup with views connected by plugs...

Nice! This'll make tableView's so
much easier!

Do you know what's in the Safari
palette? (I assume things like a
WebView object, etc.)

The only thing in the Safari palette, was a white square with a Safari logo inside it. The white square probably represented a WebView.

Forgot to mention, you can also put in things like buttons etc in tableviews now in IB. So you can have checkboxes in a tableview.

I believe (not confirmed) you can put any widget into it.

Nope.
Just installed Panther and the updated Dev Tools. There's NSTextCell, NSImageCell, NSStepperCell, NSButtonCell, NSSliderCell, NSComboBoxCell, and NSPopupButtonCell.

Now, does anyone with the 10.3 Dev Tools know how to edit the cells inside the tableview in Interface Builder?

You don't need one. Just drag a custom view onto your window, and set it to a custom class of WebView. The IB palette might do more for you, but that'll get you started.

As long as the user has Safari 1.0, you can use WebView's. Check the WebView header to find out how to use one, theres some example code.

I was checking out Panther on a friend's Mac (he's an institutional developer) and was peeking into the dark reaches of the developer release. If you go to System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework and poke around the Resources folder, you'll notice a bunch of Aqua UI elements in Photoshop .PSD files. I didn't get a chance to play with Xcode or Interface Builder -- are these UI widgets represented in IB? In developing both Carbon and Cocoa apps, I'm sometimes annoyed by the dissonance between the UI elements available in both IB palettes (i.e.: no icon control in the Cocoa palette to easily use IconRefs). Does anyone with a full-time copy of Panther notice any difference in the new IB's UI widget availability versus existing version's?
