I'm working on Microsoft Visual C++ at home on my Dell. (Part of Visual Studio 6)
Can I do this from my Powerbook G4? I'm not sure if it can be run on a Mac, either by itself, with VirtualPC or in any other way. It would really make things easier for me if I could execute it and program from my Mac.
Any help or suggestion appreciated, thanks!

Use project builder or run visual in virtual PC.

You might be able to do it remotely from your Mac to a PC. Running it right on your mac will have to be done through an emulator like VirtualPC.

P.s. This is more for the Developer forum rather than Web Developer

I know that the older versions of Codewarrior had a x86 compiler and came with MFC.

Two options to do this but with limitations

Emulation:
Virtual PC (the latest version “faster”) on a fast machine with Win 98 or 2000 (have heard that it has decent speed).

Possible issues: The speed of Virtual PC is horrendous. The OS is slow and applications run at a snail pace (my experience on a G3).

Software:
Project builder from Apple is a possible solution but check to see issues on compatibility of the code. I have heard that Microsoft’s compiler is not fully ISO compatible and uses proprietary code resulting in possible errors in your code in PB.

I have heard that Metrowerks Codewarrior is good but it’s like $900 and there is no download preview software. But it will allow you to code for Win32, Mac os9 and X.

I don’t know if you can use Remote Desktop from the Mac to your PC to run Visual Studio that would be something to explore.

Information
apple developers
Metrowerks Codewarrior

Please let us know if you find an efficient way to solve your problem.
