Hi all,
I have a PHP quandry - my PHP desktop will not serve up CSS scripts!
I have just installed PHP on my desktop G4, with instructions from the Marc Liyanage website ( http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/). The installation process went smooth, and my machine is serving up most of the scripts well. However, my machine will not serve up any of my CSS scripts (forbidden access at Port 80), so the websites look like doo doo. This is my first attempt at such an installation, and really don't know how or where to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
- Moo!

if you did install php correctly, you really don't have a php quandry... it just sounds like you're not using css properly.
css (cascading style sheets) isn't a script, it's just a set of attributes that your page uses so it knows how to display the information.
take a look at this. it'll go through all the basics and you should be able find what you're doing wrong there...

If you are getting "Forbidden" it's probably a permissions issue. Make sure that the css files are in your /Library/WebServer/Documents/ tree and that they are readable by all, and that their parent directory is readable and executable by all.

Thanks for the responses - Arkham_c gave me an idea about permissions that worked great... what if the permission for the only one file not being served had its "read" permissiont turned off?
I honestly don't know how or why it happened, but the one CSS file did have a different permission from all the others. This was probably a fluke occurrence with the system, but I switched the permissions, and everything works wonderfully. Thanks to everyone for your responses.
PS - Mike Zeller, so you're in smelly ole San Jose, eh? Me too!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I know of quite a few people who actually feel lucky to have their jobs at Kinkos now... before the economy took a dump, Kinkos was just a detour on their way towards greatness (in their own minds, of course!). Overall, website work has been better than when we started outta college, so we feel pretty lucky here.
Anyway, good luck in this job market... maybe our paths will cross again sometime. Later!
