I have made a quicktime media skin movie that I need to launch from a webpage link, but it opens as an embedded movie in a new page.
How do I code the link so it lauches quicktime player? thanks.

Do other links on your page launch in new windows? If so, how do you achieve that effect? It's possible that your QuickTime link has gotten caught in that, but the way to fix it depends on how you have the other links working.

All the other links work fine using the correct target. I was able to make the movie lauch in quicktime.app by changeing the .mov extention to .qtl

But that works in Explorer, but not in safari.
Safari decides to open a window on my Mac that contains the file, and highlights it.

Odd.

firstoff have a look at this:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/authoring/embed.html

probably one of the most helpful references to working with quicktime over the web.

it looks like you want a link that does something like:

a href='movie' target='quicktimeplayer'

or you want to just put the movie with target=QUICKTIMEPLAYER on the page, which will open quicktime player when clicked on.

(or something similar, I'm not certain of that syntax )
